Subject: late update on glazed diesel generator .... from my November2020 post.

Update on   glazed  Hyundai  diesel generator   from my post  last November.

This generator had  a whole 10 hours showing, but was smoking VERY noticeably from running not enough load..

I drained the oil and put JD Break-In oil in,  and loaded it up with   cheapy  immersion water heaters I bought off ebay... to give a load of 14 KW      Generator is rated at 18  kw.      It  puffed out  blue smoke  quite badly for a while, but gradually lessened   until about 1/2 hr of running and  there was almost no  smoke...and continues that way....

I think it might have been a lucky escape.

It seems happiest at 12 kw  load ,  coolant temp running at  about.... 180 ..185 F ......  go above that and temp  climbs to about 200 F ( ambient is  about 70 F )    which doesn't scare me, but I think indicates  it is working reasonably hard....as it should.... at least on occasions.

Thanks to those who gave input!
