I see there is some welding on an excavator boom. No patch. Just a length of weld about 8-10 inches long in a couple places on the side of the stick. No reinforcement. Is it possible this was done to straighten the boom?
It looks to me like if a crack was repaired the crack would start on the edge, not in the webbing ( middle).
Boom looks straight to me.
