Subject: A thought for dads

Not to disparage anyone or reflect poorly on others. I know there are different ways of doing things.

But, if at all possible let your children be involved in planting, spraying, harvesting, making decisions, being active in all stages of the farm. I’m shocked to hear that some children have never done a task and they are 25,32,48, whatever.

I may have been jaded. But, I was planting at age 12 or so and did a majority of it by the time I was 15. Put out anhydrous, ran combine, ran silage chopper, and many other of these activities at a very young age. Sure, I screwed up and messed up many things. But, I was learning.

So thankful I and my brothers had done most all these tasks as our dad died young and we were all under 20.

Just a thought and no disparaging. Just something to be aware of and food for thought.
