Subject: Question on using part of fuel tank for wet kit supply tank?

NE SD
We are using part of our fuel tank as a tank for wet kit. My question is on the truck fuel system. Now that the 2 tanks will not be the same size will I have any sort of problem with the return fuel line filling up the smaller tank first? And will they both empty at equal rate? One guy told me to put a simple ball valve in the return line and keep it closed until fuel is less than half tank and then can open it? Not sure he knew what he was talking about but he thought the return would fill the small tank faster and over fill the tank?
thanks much
