WCIN | This is 6 acres that I use for winter/spring pasture, it’s the closest to my barn lot and well drained.
Seeded rye last fall after corn used a spinner on the 4wheeler and a shallow disking.
Pastured the rye on rotation the End of March till May 10th. Then no tilled beans in rows.
Last week in May I sprayed it with Rup. (or did I?) Zidua pro and extend. Week later I broke both my legs and spent the better part of June not really concerned if the rye was dead or not.
Nope it wasn’t dead, went back and forth with my dad (82) as to why it didn’t die and what to do with it.
He’s thinking was the beans looked great and they would shade out the rye and all would be fine.
I was in no position to argue or do anything about it. My thinking was long as the beans where good I don’t care about the rye, my plan was to go back to a cover for grazing agin and volunteer rye is fine.
Am I going to have problems with rye in my beans? Can I blow it out with a combine? my last ditch fix is to clean the rye out of the beans, it’s just 6 ac and I have access to a seed cleaner.
On to the pics
