Subject: Starting wood pile fires

N FLA
Been steadily stacking limbs and trees. Everything had a good rain on it recently, and the ground is wet. Some of the piles icant get going with gasoline and I really hate using gas anyway.
Does diesel fuel work better? I'm just getting the gas burnt off/exploding and it's not lighting any fires. I'm making slow progress getting them lit and to burn, but wondered if diesel or used motor oil or some other method is NAT approved?
