EC IL
Mortar is failing and needs redone before the chimney falls on top of the kitchen.

I also noticed it caused some rot in the attic where the two meet. Could be old rot or getting worse...only been in this house 1.5yrs.

Anyway house needs a new roof soon....need to make a decision beforehand.

It would take a handyman to create a new eave where the chimney is but any reason to keep it?

It's not on any wall that we can convert to a fireplace. House isn't an historic farmhouse with all the additions made over the years.
Just making sure it isn't a mistake taking it down before going forward.
