Subject: Raven and Greenstar NH3 Rate Problems

Hello,
Im hoping someone can help me here. We have a John Deere 17 knife 2510c NH3 bar with dual 2"continental coolers plumbed together and ran through a 1.5" raven flow meeter, controlled by a Green star rate controller. The system is then ran to 3 sections on the toolbar. (All KZ control valves) Our problem is we set the rate at 200lbs of actual N in the 2630 (with a Cal # of 710 per 10 gal like the tag on the flow meeter says) with 5% smoothing on, and then apply a field, the rate controller sets a target and it shows its working darn near perfectly........ but when we weigh the tank after the field and divide the tonnage by acres (@82%) it actually applied about 140 lbs of N. We have cleaned the screens and magnets multiple times, blown out the orifices, blown out the vapor lines exiting the coolers, etc. We have talked to Raven, they said if the cal # is correct it should work and if the flow meeter is going out it would over apply not under. We talked to continental, they said if the vapor lines are frosting during application that flow is not the problem and the coolers are working properly and keeping the NH3 in liquid form for the flow meeter. Our local Deere AMS guy is an ace, seriously, and his next step is try a different rate controller...or new flow meeter.
The concept of Nh3 application in the past was pretty simple with the old ground drive pump, like many things in modern agriculture, but when technology is incorporated ( to make things better) it causes problems! Our first field we set at 190 it applied about 105, Then I set it to 380 it (why not) it put on about 145. So then a good cleaning again, set at 200 and applied 140. All the time the greenstar thinks its working great. Any help would be much appreciated, Ive already got too much ground misapplied, to fix, to keep guessing. Thanks!
