Subject: Question about the usefulness of drones in production agriculture?

South Georgia
This is my first time venturing into this forum. I know a few years ago, drones were definitely the 'in' thing. Outside of shooting really cool video for your YouTube channel, has anybody been actually using them for all this magical plant health/insect scouting/nutrient deficiency finding/whatever that these things were first claimed to be able to achieve? Has anybody found a problem on the ground by using a drone, then been able to verify and correct that problem? If so, by what means was the problem found? Using a RGB camera? A NVDI camera?

The hype has calmed down a lot regarding these things in the last few years, and I know that like all new ideas, they were overhyped. But at this point, has any of this come to fruition? Again, aside from the cool YouTube video footage...

Thanks for any replies,
Adrian

Edited to fix typo in subject line.
