Subject: 8v92 Detroit revisited

Central ND
A few weeks ago I posted about an oil leak on the back of our 8v92. I finally got around to investigating a little deeper yesterday. I bolted the flywheel back on and started the truck, within seconds there was oil running out. I took the flywheel back off and found oil leaking around the 3-3/8" bolts located on about the 1 o'clock position of the flywheel housing. After talking to a tech it's my understanding that they hold an idler gear in place and they have oil pressure behind them and they use a special bolt and sealant there, these were just plain 3/8" hex bolts with no sealant. I ordered the right bolts so hopefully next week we have it back together and roadworthy again. Thanks for all the advice!
