Subject: high voltage warning on Magnum 305

SEMN
My magnum 305 runs fine for a while then, I get a high voltage warning. The warning says, the alternator is putting out 16. 3 up to 17 volts.
Implement technician suggested switching the batteries with another implement. That didn't help. The current batteries are 3.5 years old and the volt meter shows 13.16 volts.

The alternator is reading 14.66 volts with the engine running, of course. I've taken the alternator to a repair shop. He said, there is nothing wrong with the alternator. He suggested, I look for a bad ground or loose connection somewhere. So far, what I have found looks fine.

The implement mechanic thought the regulator in the alternator might be bad. The alternator repair shop doesn't believe that is the problem.

If I shut the engine off and restart it, the problem goes away for a while.

Has anyone else had this problem. I'd appreciate any advice or suggestions.
Thanks,
