South Central MN | I usually like to sell my crop on a basis contract because they are usually pretty decent for the ngmo crops I raise plus it locks in a variable in my marketing. This year however, I can't figure out if locking in the basis at this point is the smart move or not. Currently I can get 0.25 under, but several years ago it was as good as 0.15 over. We haven't seen basis that good in quite a while though. 0.25 under has probably been what they've been averaging the last 3 or 4 years.
My area got most of their crops in, and they are looking good so far, although they are late. Soo... Will local basis widen due to increased prices and more selling, or will it stay the same/narrow to keep us from selling elsewhere? | |
