Subject: Late corn planting

Nebraska, The land of corn and cattle

Played around with the GDU calculator and come up with a number of about 2500 GDU by the average first frost of Oct 10. Hopefully by the weekend we will be able to go again, itll be a little wet but its down to the wire. Last plant date was the 25th. Got looking for some shorter corn, dealer says he can get me some 108 that would be about 2560 GDU, is that short enough or do I need him to keep looking? Sounds like its getting tough to get much shorter than that around here right now. Everyones sitting on what they have already and doesn't want to give it up.

Looks like well have a decent window for the next 2 weeks, 300 acres of corn planned yet, and would rather not plant anymore beans than I have to.
