Subject: Disc Mower Conditioner vs MPH vs Quality of Cut

Central Western VA Mountains
Those of you running disc mower conditioners...

Sharp knifes...

Where do you folks draw the line when it comes to quality of cut vs ground speed in heavy first cuttings of grass hay and subsequent 2nd, 3rd cuts? What is your max MPH and cutting height? At these higher speeds, especially on heavy first cut, are you getting a golf course manicured cut or a ragged cut and that’s OK, hay is on the ground deal?

With our new to us MF 1105, I've got more hp to drive our 9ft Krone mower conditioner. I think my ground speed will be limited either by quality of cut vs ground speed and/or the ability to stay in the seat with faster ground speeds vs hp.

Where do you draw the line - quality of cut vs MPH?

Thanks!
