| Was approached by a guy that had some sows and he’s looking for somewhere to go with about 450-500 hd of hogs twice a year. He knows I have wanted to get into the business. He said a 5-600 hd building would be perfect for his needs and he would be willing to mentor me as far as raising them. But I have some questions on this.
Would it be better to raise them in total confinement, hoop barns, or cargill type buldings? I’m against raising them completely out doors.
How big of a foot print would it be to build each type of building?
How much would it cost to build each type?
And how many lbs/gallons of manure would it produce and how many acres would I have to find a home for it?
These would be wean to Finnish. I would probably grind my own feed unless I would be better off to not? | |
