Jewell County KS | I hauled 6 pair to some grass day before yesterday and found a calf dead there today. Month and a half old and seemed fine when dropped off. The strange thing is she had already been fed on and was opened up from her throat to upper chest with a lot of rib cage exposed and opened up clear to her belly. I have had coyote damage a few times over the years but they always seem to start in on the other end of the calf.
I have heard of mountain lion reports in the area over the last few years. Does this sound like a possible lion attack ?
Either way she is dead. We brought the cow home today and there was enough left to get a decent skin for a transplant.
