Subject: Another calving in may question

Just one more question on the calving topic. I have been reading all previous posts and keeping up with this as this maybe and option for us real soon. So we normally calf april 1 on our cows. The last two years have been crap and are just about tired of fighting the mud every year also. So if we back our calving date up to april 25 or may 1 about how many pounds would we possibly loose on nov. 1 as that is when we normally sell? We only sell big steers at that time and they have been weighing between 590 to 650. We always background our lighter steers and heifers until after the first of the year. Also if we sort replacement heifers will we have a problem getting them to breed for a first of march? One other thing we have culled our cows hard the last couple years and took all of the late breeders out so how bad of a wreck would we have the first year getting them bred by switching our dates? Right now everything will breed in for the first 45 days.
