Subject: Cover crop experiment

Eastern Shore of MD
Doing a planting green experiment with corn this spring.

Field had radishes, crimson clover and barley flown on last Sept into standing soybeans.
Radishes did their thing last fall then winter killed so barley and clover remain.
In 1st pic to the left of the shovel the barley was terminated was a grass herbicide and to the right side both barley and clover remain. Plan on planting green and terminating the cover crops at planting.

2nd pic shows clover roots. Some nodulation but not sure how much N has been produced. No flowers on clover yet but it is really taking off now with warm weather and 3 ton poultry manure 2 weeks ago. Corn planting should be 2 weeks out.

Also will have a good portion of the field where we did normal tillage. Planning on taking experiment to yield.
