Subject: Hog Lot & Sweet Corn

Schlegel Farms, Hagerstown Indiana
I have a friend that wants to use an old hog lot to plant sweet corn.

It is thick with Jimsonweed. They want to burn down the Jimson before they start.

I said I thought that 2-4D and Roundup would take care of it.

They also wondered how long after spraying would they need to wait before planting. I know there is a waiting period on beans and it depends on who you listen too on field corn about waiting, but I wasn't sure about sweet corn.

We are a good 6-7 weeks out from planting in the best of weather.

They didn't say anything about a pre-emergence, and I don't know for sure if they are planning on using Roundup-ready seed or not.

If not RR, what post applied chemicals are approved for sweet corn?

What ideas/thoughts advice you fellows have?
