Banks are trying to get out in front of this thing as the dairy industry has drained considerable amount of liquidity and equity out of the system.
Working capital ,those are the new buzzwords. Net worth , not so much as that is a moving target, mostly down.
Some see it, some are in denial. 1. Pay down debt when times are good.2. leverage up when times are bad only if you did number 1 first.
Lot a talk in ag circle's about going organic, just like the raising hops talk couple years ago. That market is all but gone in this area
Young guys keep your uptown job you can do that and farm both, you are young , you will need both to survive the next 10 years.
Old guys, give the young ones a break ,you can't take it with ya.
Going to lose another generation off the farm I'm afraid. Most in my area are 60+.
