Subject: Cummins 8.9L

Working on a neighbors Magnum 305 that has the 8.9L in it. Had the valve cover off and noticed that the valve lashes were all too tight, especially the intakes. Started to adjust them and noticed the tip of #6’s intake was kinda “jammed” funny. Undid the arm and put pliers to the “cup” part to see if it’d free up and the thing shattered. Also noticed on another that the “cup” part was separated from the piece that actually pushes on the bridge, which made getting a feeler gauge between it and the bridge difficult. Seems the lash would be taken up by the little nub on the rocker arm rather than the bridge each time the valve was opened? Not good? Do you have to get new arms to fix this?
