Subject: Young, getting married and buying/renting house

St. Clair County, MI
I’m a young farmer (25) getting married in July this year, i need to find a place to live pretty soon and wondering what anyone’s good ideas are. I’ve spend the last few years saving my pennies and buying farmland and that’s why I don’t own a house already. Have a place we’re pretty serious about buying on a land contract from close friend that is big fixed up farmhouse with buildings close to our farm. But it will not be available for about a year. In the meantime do I rent a house, rent an apartment 20 minutes away. Looked at renting a nice house 2 miles away then found out they got 1200/month rent!!!! I feel like renting is throwing money away. I can buy my choice of house uptown 5 miles away for 50k with not much work into it. Should I do that and keep the house for a rental?
