Subject: Fixing air hose ends ?

Everybody probably eventually runs into this issue.

Does anybody have a neat solution ?

Air hoses usually flex the most right at the end and eventually the rubber hose cracks and begins leaking right there.

The only cure seems to be cut off the brass clamping ferrule, cut the hose off and reinstall the hose barb back into the hose.

The issue then becomes what do you use to clamp the hose back onto the barb that does not snag on everything or slice your hand every time you grab the hose to use it. Small hose clamps work okay but are sharp and can cut. Can wrap them with Scotch Super 33 electrical tape to cover sharp edges but it's not ideal.  Can also use those plastic jaw locking clamps used for sprayer hose that when you crimp them shut the teeth click and lock tight. They can be removed and reused but are a bit bulky.

What are those smooth band type clamps called that you have to use pliers like end nippers to squeeze them to tighten. One time use of course but maybe smaller profile and less likely to snag and rip your hand every time ?

Anybody else have a neat idea for getting back to a nice snag free end on air hoses that you can do without taking the hose and having a new end crimped on ? Think a piece of copper tubing or copper pipe crimped on with battery terminal crimper would hold tight enough. Can you buy these ferrules uncrimped some where and crimp them on with this style crimper ?

Please share your solutions and what works for you.
