Subject: Help with soil test on low CEC field

Wallis, TX
Just rented this field and took a quick sample before it rained. Field seems pretty uniform so I'm guessing the rest of the samples when we get them will be generally the same. Old rice ground that's been idle (hayed a couple of times in the drought) for about 10 years. Not familiar at all with this light of ground.

Realistic yield goals would be 100-150 bu corn, 1.5-2 bale cotton. County average is 90 ish corn and bale and a half cotton. There is a slight chance we may be able to get the irrigation well going, if do, the top yield would be 150-200 corn and 2-3 bale cotton.

Now the kicker,,,, land is for sale and would be lost to development.

The plan is to get the lime and dry on whenever the weather permits this winter. What is the NAT approved plan?

Thanks,
Tim
