West Central Missouri | pardon my improper capitalization. my shift keys are not working and i'm far too busy to troubleshoot this issue.
i had a farmer ask me an interesting question the other day. he's running ag leader yield monitoring on an integra with a 40 foot draper head. i've never really paid much attention to the autoswath section size on harvest configurations until lately. it occurred to me, from my own observations and a few test configurations i programmed on the display, that autoswath breaks down platform swath widths on a 10 percent of full swath basis. whether you have a 20 foot platform, or a 40 foot platform, your autoswath increment is 10 percent of the total header width.
the farmer i discussed this with was interested in getting autoswath a little more precise than 4 foot sections, which is what he was getting with his 40 foot draper configuration. i've banged through the menus exhaustively, and found nowhere that this is a user adjustable setting, although i think i have a workaround.
configurations with row crop headers appear to autoswath on one row increment. theoretically, one with a 40 foot draper could build a configuration with a 20 row on 24 inch rows row crop header, and harvest beans with a 40 foot platform, and have autoswath working on 2 foot increments. if the header height calibration is right, it should not matter to the monitor if we are lying to it about the header, should it. damned shift key, i can't even leave a question mark....
it's a little bit of an unorthodox workaround, but i'd love to hear any thoughtful input. i have not yet begun my own bean harvest. i operate a 25 foot platform, and i'm tempted to build a 20 row, 15 inch configuration for it, and see if i note any increased autoswath precision. | |
