Subject: 20 gal of 28% with planter - what placement

NE Ohio
I'm going through a lot of learning and research this year since we picked up a new (to us) planter.

The planter is an 8606 set up with martin row cleaners and fertilizer openers (UMO-100).

Our plans are to put on 20 gal per acre (~60 lb) of straight 28%. After talking locally, we're getting mixed messages about the risk of damaging the seedlings with this rate. I'm hoping for some agtalk experience.

What placement distance would be a 'safe' distance and still get the benefits of the N.

From the martin web site, it looks like the options are:
Can be set to place liquids 1", 2", or 3" from seed row
Can also be set to place liquids 3/4" above, even with, or 3/4" below seed depth

What is recommended (currently set at 2"). Is this rate too high and will risk damage? Seems like most studies talk 20#, I did see a Kansas study @ 50# on 2x2.
Appreciate help in learning, this is the first time putting N on directly with the planter. Always before we did seed safe fertilizer directly into the seed trench.
