Protein Premiums Not Likely — The higher protein in this year’s winter wheat crop will likely not mean any big premiums for spring wheat producers. “The cat might be out of the bag for protein," said Brian O'Toole, "For us, a good protein year is probably nine to 11. When you go down south, they’re quite a bit higher than that. I think our premiums are very much going to mimic what we’ve done this past year.” O’Toole is a wheat grower at Crystal, North Dakota, and the current vice-chairman of US Wheat Associates. | |
