Subject: Late rye cover crop

I was gonna try to get a couple field planted with rye this fall for a cover, but never got to it before the end of harvest. So i was wondering if i would be able to frost seed some cereal rye and maybe a clover mix that would germinate early in the spring. When would be the best time to seed? I was thinking about planting into it green then burning it down. Could i get a good stand in the spring just broadcasting it into standing cornstalks?
