Subject: Portable generator running watts

Chebanse, IL.....

How do you figure the power draw on a portable generator when you're using both the AC & DC outputs? Let's say you have a 500w power draw on the ac side (2x 250w lights). Now-you want to simultaneously charge a 12V dc battery off the dc output that's "rated" @ 8 A-12V. So-does that 8 A x 12V = 96w?

So-total load would be about 600w?

How much amperage will a 12V battery draw from the generator on REcharge assuming it's down to 11V or something like that? Never thought about this stuff before.

Thanks
