Subject: Winter wheat germinated in spring - Will it yield anything?

South central Manitoba
What happens to wheat planted in dry ground that does not germinate until the spring? Will it yield anything? Does it need winter dormancy as an essential part of the reproductive process?

Seem like these might be some important questions for next year.
