Subject: Cotton following milo in no-till or strip till

Texas
Just got my soil tests back from my consultant. He told me about a disease or soil born pathogen that shows itself in droughthy years. Said he had heard of it killing wheat and that he had heard of cotton not yielding well behind milo stubble in a droughthy year. He also stay that pre plant irrigating would probably help. He had to get off the phone before we finished the conversation.

This year I put three pivots in a half cotton, half milo rotation. Keeping the water mostly on the cotton. I plan on running a strip till plow thru the milo stubble this spring before planting cotton.

Has anyone heard of the problem?? Will the strip till help? If Irrigation helps, how much water will I need to put on??
