Northern IL | Latley we have gotten a bad smell in our soft water. It is worse when the salt tank runs low. The water in the bottom of the salt tank smells really bad. My question is if I unhook the salt tank and take it outside and clean it out then refill it with salt will that fix the problem. Do I need the unit rebedded or just the salt tank cleaned out.We have a line to the kitchen sink that is hard water that doesen't go through the softener and it doesn't smell. Also have a whole house filter in the line coming in the house.
