SE SD | I'm having a local reputable contractor build a machine shed for me. When I make the final payment, is there some thing written somewhere saying the building materials are paid for? The reason I ask is that my dad had a contractor build something for him and while he was waiting to get a final bill, the local lumberyard filed a lien on his property because the contractor didn't pay his bill at the lumberyard. Totally legal, just a poor way of doing business, in my opinion. tia Kelly
