west central iowa | What's working for everybody on new cattle arrival? We have been getting in our pieced together, multi owners and several different sale barns over the course of a few days. We have been getting 500 lb. bawling steer calves last week when it was warm. The vets suggest bovishild gold 5 and pour their backs. Then come back in 2 weeks and run them through again with implant, bovishield gold 5, and vision 7 for over eating. This year we are trying stress tubs in the pen(1 per 25 head). They seem to like them. Question is how many feeders are giving Micotil or draxin or zuprevo or something like that right away? The cattle have been here between 7-10 days now. We have pulled and treated 8% so far out of 635 head. Zuprevo is costing $20 per head. Batril is cheaper and also seems to be working. One group of 110 head got 10 cc of micotil right away when in the chute and albon in the water. They are doing real good now. We need another 700 head in 3 weeks. I'll try what's working for others. thanks | |
