SCKY | Cereal Rye is quite popular in my area. Many farms sow the seed in the fall for winter grazing or forage to be cut and harvested in the spring. However, nobody combines it for the seed. I really don't know why in that it isn't cheap when its purchased in fall. Nearly twice the price of wheat this year.
Are they certain varieties that don't produce a germinating seed?
Are the yields low and it's cost prohibitive?
Is it hard to harvest, dry and store?
