Subject: COC Residue: Bury or leave on surface

Central Iowa
What do you think is more detrimental to a seedling and young corn plant? I know there are regional differences in decomposition and I'm not asking about decomposition. Burying the residue accelerates decomposition but puts the residue in the seed zone and root zone while sweeping the residue aside avoids those issues. However, there is the issue of toxicity of the residue if it should blow back into the row and come into contact with a young plant. What's more important a clean seed/root zone or a clean above ground zone for the young plants?
