Owensville, MO | Posting for my brother. His '03 duramax has starting puffing some white smoke at idle. Seems to start and run fine and he has been checking oil level frequently and as of yet no fuel in the oil. Truck has 140,000 miles and has had an edge juice box on it set on 40hp setting. Box was taken off a while back and has run the last 20,000 or so miles on stock settings.
Everyone we talk to says injectors and to have the balance rates checked and go from there. Sounds like this is pretty common on this model duramax. Most have told us to replace them all and forget about it. $3-$5000 is what we're hearing. Just wondering if you guys have any suggestions about what else it could be that he should check into or if the info we have is correct and just plan on a new set of injectors.
Thanks guys
Joe
