N FLA | One of my favorite songs is Charlie Robison-New Year's Day. I really like this lyric and wondered if there is anything to it, about the boys from O'Connor. Any of you TX guys know the story behind this? Most of his songs seem to have some connection to his life. Coincidentally, i read 95% of Laredo TX was hispanic, never guessed that. Anybody else like Charlie Robison?
It's 'New Year's Day' here on the border
And it's always been this way
I never do the things, I oughta
I think I'll stay, it's 'New Year's Day'
Well, I met 'em, boys they're from ol' Connor
Cowboy like you've never seen
They're up for anything you want to
Live on steak and refried beans
They bought up half of Southern Texas
It's why they act the way they do
When 'em, boys meet me in Laredo
They think they own Laredo too
Here is the song.....
