Subject: Calcium to Phos ratio in beef background ration

Got a question for you full time beef feeders out. All input will be appreciated. Anyhow, I am balancing my ration to background calves aiming for 2.5 lbs gain per day. With the feedstuffs I have available and the mineral package that I have with bovatec, my calcium to phos ratio is 4.6 to 1. Should I be concerned? I know its not optimum but NRC says cattle can do alright up to 7:1. I don't want urinary calculi.

The ration that I'm looking to use is 11.8 lbs good alfalfa, 4.5 corn, 4.5 barley, .2 dry mollasses, and .4 of mineral. Thinks that's a good ration for 650 weight steers? My feed cost per gain is $0.54, is that considered good?
