far sNSW , Australia | Thanks for all the ideas. Put in brand new chaffer rails, as old ones were a mess and new ones were only $450 each. Had too get going quickly. Tie rod took lots of heat in the shop to free up. The broken wheel stud ended up drilling a small hole as far as it would go (inner end must be case hardened), then drilled out with 1/2 inch drill. Still took some belting with 12 lb sledge, to get it to come out. Certainly wasn't much fun pulling the whole chaffer out. Took a couple of hours all up. Hope it is alright when we give it a run tomorrow. I'll try to take some photos. | |
