Subject: Tiling with RTK, then finding lines in years to come...

Elvaston, IL
Maybe I'm thinking about this incorrectly, so feel free to enlighten me. So let's say I lay tile with a base station in the field on a tripod. Super. When I take my base station out of the field upon completion, and the need arises to find a line in later years, how does one go about finding them if the exact location of the base isn't recorded? Because I have no reference point anymore (the base), so won't my records of the lines appear to be shifted? Because if I ever put the base back in that field to find the lines and it's not exactly in the same place, I'd think the lines would appear to move. Is this making any sense? Or do you just try to get close and do exploratory digging?
