Le Sueur VIA St.Thomas | Hello,
This years winter project will require some plastic fabrication. I want to make 'fenders' (14" tall wheels) and I think I want to use abs plastic- the harder, less flexible stuff.
Basically, I want to take a piece about 3"x 14", foll it into an arch and 'weld' it to to another piece of plastic, which would probably just be flat. My guess it that I'd use 1/4" thick material. The prototype will be sheet metal, but would really like the finished product to be plastic.
The question is how do I do it? Anyone know of plastic fabricators out there that could do the job? The pieces would be small enough to ship UPS. My other thought was to buy the plastic and cut it and form it myself, which would be within my capabilities. The question there is how to weld it? I looked at ebay for plastic welders, but still don't know if I could do it with 'professional results' which is what I'm looking for.
Any advice would be appreciated
good luck -jim | |
