Subject: Pic of corn in my area of EC-IL

With everyones hot topic being floppy/rootless corn i went out today to check some fields out of concern as some of the the corn was leaning. and i believe its just because of the corn being so top-heavy and not having brace roots?

Planting 3" deep this year must have really helped us this year as normally we plant 2-2.5" deep (knuckle rule). We were concerned about corn being planted so deep and emerging properly and evenly, but seems to have been a blessing. Read Purdue's article on how RCS comes to be with lack of moisture after development, so maybe the fluffy ripped conditions left last fall were a good thing since we couldn't shallow the planter enough.

Anyway, this is LG2620 P500/VoTivo planted 4/24-ish (don't have my planting book in front of me) at 36K.
