Subject: Tractor in Toney Alabama

Many thanks to 69zfarmer, rwhis and 7110 mag for offering your help. It turned out that I had to travel to Nashville on thursday and went down to Youngs Tractor on friday morning. The Massey 6270 with 3600 hours looks pretty good and engine runs well. No excessive blowby and engine started well cold. There is a fuel leak at the injection pump. The transmission shifts good and 4 speed power shift works in all ranges. Forward reverse power shuttle worked well. Pto works in both 540 and 1000 range but there is a leak at the pto shaft seal. The three point hitch would not work (in raised position and would not go down). Tires are good (60-75%) but are mismatched. Fronts are 14.9-28 bias-ply on left side and goodyear radial on right side which looks new. Rears are 18.4-38 radials. Right side is Michelin Agribib and left is off brand radial. Was told that the tractor spent its life on a batwing mower and the drawbar is well worn with no noticable wear on lift arms. Tractor has 3 remotes and appears to be a closed center load sensing system. The cab is fairly clean inside with average wear for a tractor with this many hours. The tach does not work and the radio is missing. The air conditioning did not work but heater did. Seat is in excellent condition. All lights worked with the exception of the rear work lights and 1 cab mounted light. Sheet metal on hood and front grill are good but the top center section of hood needs to be painted. Side shields have good paint and all latches work. Fenders are good with with good paint. Brakes and clutch worked well. Owner said that all non-working items would be fixed before tractor was sold. Still debating if this is a good deal or not with the mismatched tires. Thanks again for your time and would love to hear from anyone who has experience with this series of Masseys.
