Subject: Electric fan for radiator?

Central Il Morton

I have a 4 cylinder gas Ford industrial engine in a jlg type lift that the plastic fan blade has fallen apart because of age. It is no longer available from any source so I installed a electric fan on the radiator.
My problem is I need to power it only when the engine is running which eliminates the ignition as a source because it has dual controls on the ground and in the basket.

Only place I can think of is the alternator. Will it work or just feed off the battery when not running?
thanks
