Subject: Question for the woodworkers

Nebraska, The land of corn and cattle
I'm still remodeling the bathroom, waiting on the shower right now.

So I'm working on other projects, now the woodwork. The only original to the house woodwork left in the bathroom is around the door and the door itself, but because it didn't have a fan in the room it's gotten moldy. So it needs to be sanded down to get rid of the mold. But I want to show off the grain, I know the original finish was orange shellac, which I found out after I started sanding down another piece from another room but I'll deal with that later. I know the shellac is not good with humidity, but I don't think I want it to look totally out of place to the rest of the house.

So what are some suggestions to go with? Do I wait and try to match the vanity? The rest of the "new" baseboards will be painted white, I'm taking them out of another similar vintage house, but theyre not a match to what I have and they're a bit weathered so I have no problem painting them white, which will provide a nice contrast to the wood look floor.

Pictures are what it looks like after the shellac had been sand off, what it looked like before, and then a picture of the mold on the bathroom side of the door, it's sitting against a door in the hallway which shows what the hallway side still looks like, so I really only have to do one side of the door.

Sorry for the long post, but as you can tell I'm not really a wood worker, steel is more my forte.
