Subject: Silicone baking pad?

East central Iowa

I built a kitchen table and my wife doesn't want to damage the surface by rolling dough or even mixing in bowls on it.  I thought that there might be a silicone mat that could be placed on the table so she could use part of the table.
Our concern is that the silicone pads are all silicone so if they slip they may damage the surface or even placing them on the table may damage the table when you take them off.

Does anyone have any experience with these?  I spent considerable time on this table top and neither of us want to damage it.
