Subject: Trading manure spreaders.... had a good plan, but....

north-central Indiana west of Fulton
We like to trade spreaders often enough that we don’t have much chance of down time ,since we haul rather often. Over the last 40 years, that has been from as little as 8 to as much as 11 years between trades.
One load per day is a pretty close number of loads we haul for the year , but we don’t haul every day.
In July I decided this was the year to trade, as it would be 9 years in December on the Kuhn slinger.
Thought it would be plenty of time to have one by years end. Not so, except for one In Wisconsin with the wrong tires , none could be had. Went ahead and traded with a March/April estimated delivery date.
Except for a broken front drive chain, we have had no other repairs on the slinger....until last week when I lost a hammer. I knew the bolts had to be getting worn, but it’s hard to tell without a thorough cleaning of the hammers. Dealer provided new bolts and bushings and I put them on. As you can tell, should have been done a little sooner.
My trade plan would have worked out perfect....but COVID threw a wrench in it!
