Subject: How to tell if a starter has locked up a motor? Deere 350B

Mid-Missouri
On an old Deere 350B, the starter clicks but won't turn the engine, at all. Headlights dim. I can't turn the engine over at all with fan/belt. I have removed the three injectors and filled with lube. I have considered pull starting as it seems to be a 4 speed with clutch, just to see if I can get engine to rotate. Might be hard considering how geared down a dozer is. So I wonder if the starter is to blame, as diesels stored properly don't typically seize IMO.

Is there a way to verify a starter is faulty without first removing it, as removal looks painful. Furthermore, a way to tell if starter is engaged and locked before removal. I will add it appears there is continuity between engine block and large wire going to starter motor. Unless I am mistaken, I think that is a bad sign.
