Subject: A question on the California bottelneck..

Richland Center, Wi

A week or so ago, a trucker who was hauling a load out away from the port in LA was interviewed. He indicated it took him 9 hours of waiting to get his load.

I see pictures of how the shipping containers are stacked up waiting for trucks to come haul them away.

Does anyone know what sort of logistics system is used to match the arrival time of trucks to location of containers? In other words, it would make sense (to me) that a container would be easily accessible at the time a truck was scheduled to arrive to pick that container up. Or don't they work like that? I can see where a lot of time would be wasted if the desired container was on the bottom of a stack.
